About the language

Due to the geopolitical history where Norway was ruled by Denmark for over 400 years, Norwegian has two literary variants. The first, bokmål, is largely influenced by Danish. It is taught at most schools and is based on contemporary diaries and domestic literature translationS. The second language is a new Norwegian, Nynorsk, and is based on Norwegian rural dialects. For most people remains a second language. To write Norwegian (both nynorsk and bokmål), use the Latin alphabet, complemented by the characters æ, ø and å. Characteristic for both languages are melodic (two-tone) accent and long vowels which are shortened shortened when followed by double consanants. Inflection is analytical: the names are not case endings, only recognize number and gender (a common medium). With vocabulary mainly influenced by Danish Norwegian with which it is mutually intelligible.

How this works

Select the languages that you want the translator to work with. Type or paste your text into the upper box and click "translate". The bottom box will immediately show your requested translation which you can then select, copy, and use for your needs. Translator.eu can translate up to 1000 characters of text (medium long text) at a time. If you want to translate a longer text, you will need to divide the translation into several parts. To achieve the highest possible quality of translation, make sure that the text is grammatically correct. Slang expressions, just like texts written in a colloquial language, are generally a problem for online translators. Please don't forget to evaluate the result of your translation, or write your own translation if you think that the translated text is wrong.
